Demand Increases at Food Pantries

As families prepare for tomorrow’s Thanksgiving festivities food pantry’s across the country are stretched beyond their limits including one In Framingham featured on CBS Boston. Pantry’s are seeing a large increase in demand, some by over 400% and many others are experiencing similar shortages for much needed food.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), 16.2 million children under 18 in the United States do not always know where their next meal will come from and are unable to consistently access nutritious and adequate amounts of food necessary for a healthy life.

Our up-coming event partner Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia reports that “One in four children are at risk for hunger in southeastern Georgia” What we know as a huge problem around the world is also a challenge right here in our local communities.
